Some of you may remember the Star Cut-Out Cupcakes I made for Firecracker's class on her birthday...well here's an easy version for St. Patrick's Day, and all it takes is a small heart shaped cookie cutter. We really don't do much to celebrate St. Patrick's Day around here...I'm kind of ready for a break from holidays for a few month or two this time of year...but I figured since she made cupcakes anyway, why not make the frosting green.
And since I'm not a St. Patrick's Day diehard fan...I tried a few other green cut-outs. I think any of them could satisfy a leprechaun...or two
...or maybe four.
Here's what you do...
Cut the top off your cupcake with a serrated knife. (I used this tip from Six Sisters' Stuff to fill the cupcakes a little more full with batter and then cook them at 325 degrees instead of 350 to get a rounder cupcake---Mine didn't get quite as round as theirs, but it still worked really well.)
Cut three hearts out of your cupcake top.
Use a knife to cut out a stem.
Frost your cupcake with green frosting.
Add a few sprinkles if desired.
Replace the top of your cupcake.
Instant fun....and ready to eat...
Yum!

so fun, we always seem to do baking when the kid has a play date, sort of great until they spray sprinkles all over the floor! I must try these.
ReplyDeleteThese are so cute! I'd love for you to share this clever idea at Mix it up Monday:

Darling. I never thought of turning hearts into clovers. What a fun (and yummy!) project for everyone.
ReplyDeleteSuch great cupcake ideas you always have! my favorite was the star! though the clovers are fabulous too.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant! I'll never make a plain frosted cupcake again. Such a neat idea and maybe it'll keep my kid from eating *just* the frosting ;)
ReplyDeleteThis is just adorable! My niece is the baker in the family... I'll have to have her make me some of these! : ) I'd love for you to stop by and share at my party!

That is really cute! Plus, it would travel to school so much better without the frosting sticking to the lid of the container or whatever.
